My #1 Secret For Getting Motivated on Lazy Days

how to get motivated and get stuff done when you're feeling lazy

Even when you love your work, we all have days when we're just not feeling it. Some days, the couch is just calling my name; Bravo has decided to have one of those all-day Real Housewives marathons, it's raining outside, Chester is giving me his best "come cuddle me" eyes, and I just want to make a cup of coffee and laze around in my sweats.

But guess what? The work has gotta get done.

When I'm in full-on lazy mode, and the thought of a huge project that I need to complete has me completely overwhelmed, this is what I do:

I cross one thing off the list ANYTHING that makes me feel like a productive member of society.

Look at your to-do list, and check something off of it NOW. Answer an email, go for a run, empty the dishwasher, it doesn't really matter as long as you're doing something that needs done (it helps to play some hip hop music at a loud volume too, in my opinion). Accomplishing something gives you a burst of energy, and before you know it, you'll be attacking your list.

You see, I've found that Newton's laws make a lot of sense, and when I am at rest, I tend to stay at rest. But the busier I am, the more I can actually get done. Have you ever heard that quote "if you want to get something done, ask a busy person"? It's because an additional task makes less of an impact if you're already moving and grooving.

So, it might be simple advice, but if you're feeling lazy, just start and get one thing done, and I promise it will be a domino effect the rest of the day.

What do you do when you're in an unmotivated slump? Let me know in the comments!
