My Goals for The Rest of the Summer
This summer has gone faster than any summer I can remember! It hasn't really felt like a normal summer to me because I've been stuck inside most days and adjusting to life with a newborn, but I realized that we're in the last month of summer already and there are a few things that I'd like to accomplish before fall comes around.
Get Charlie on a schedule
Now that Charlie is a couple of months old, it's time to get him on somewhat of a schedule. Not that he has to be scheduled down to the minute, but we need some type of structure and routine around here for both of our sakes. I've just started this but I already feel a little more in control and at peace which is a welcome change!
Get myself on a weekly schedule
I quickly realized after Charlie was born that keeping up with my work, the house, spending time with Wes, spending time in prayer, and my own self care (like regular showers lol!) was going to be a real challenge. I have realized that the only way I'm going to be able to keep up with everything is to plan, plan, plan and stay organized! I am the type of person who doesn't really enjoy a lot of structure, but who often needs it. Especially now that my time is limited, I can't just fly by the seat of my pants like I used to so I'm working on coming up with a doable weekly schedule that will help me to batch my tasks and stay on top of things.
Get back to posting regularly on blog and youtube channel
Along those same lines, getting back into the swing of things with my work is one of my top priorities with this new schedule. I have put so much time and energy into building my "brand" or whatever you want to call it, and it would be such a shame to just let it die a slow death lol. I love my work, and feeling fulfilled creatively makes me a much better mother.
Start prioritizing health again
The amount of packaged snacks like granola bars and pop tarts that I've eaten over the past 2 months is a little - okay a LOT - embarrassing! When you're totally sleep deprived and have no time, I feel like health is the first to go. I found myself rushing to the kitchen, ripping open a bag of whatever was available, and stuffing it in my face so I could get something done before Charlie would wake up again. Now that we are a little bit more in the swing of things around here, I'm definitely working on eating healthier, more balanced meals (which shouldn't be difficult! ha!) and going for regular walks.
Wherever I am, be all there
Being present is such a challenge for everyone in this day and age, but especially as a new mom, it's so difficult to keep from looking at emails on my phone while I hold Charlie or thinking about what we'll have for dinner while I should be reading my daily Bible devotional. I really want to make an effort to be present in whatever I'm doing rather than being half on, half off, with everything. Charlie will only be little for a little while and I don't want to rush past it and not fully soak it up. I really think and hope that having more structure in my days and weeks will help that.
